Welcome to Briarcreek Kennel located in Utica, Ohio, and owned by Kris and Rob Homman. We are breeders of Standard Poodles and Labradoodles. Our goal is to be responsible breeders, and raise puppies and dogs that project the breed standards. Our family consists of, our children: Steven, Tyler, Morgan and Brett. Also our fur kids: Molly(retired, and Kris's best friend), Fancy, Jill, Dog, Bali, Midnight, Belle, Flame, Darcy, Dixie, Dusty, Bonnie, Cleo, Champ, Sage, Frosty, Tanner, Curly, Megan, Maverick, Montana and Rat. Without everyone’s help we would not be able to do what we do.

Kris has held a special place in her heart for dogs all her life. She has worked with veterinarians since a very young age, and at one time wanted to spend her life doing just that. Also, she has worked for a kennel, helping with the care and grooming of the dogs. For several years she was involved with several rescue groups, and assisted in placing the dogs into loving homes.  Kris is currently searching for the right puppy to train as a Search and Rescue dog.  The time has come.  The twins are now almost 4, and by the time the puppy is actually ready, they will have started school, which will give Kris the time to work with the puppy.

Rob has been around dogs all his life and would like to incorporate these dogs with his profession. He is a firefighter/paramedic and would eventually like to raise and train an accelerant (arson) dog. Rob knows first hand the difficulties in owning animals while having allergies. It was hard to have a dog in the house, until we discovered the wonderful Standard Poodles. Now we currently, have 3 that live in our home, full-time.

Our dogs are raised with our children and are socialized at baseball games, family get-togethers and anywhere else that we are allowed to take them. The twins (Morgan and Brett) have been raised with our puppies and they love to be around them, as much as the dogs love to be with them. All of our puppies receive the love and care from everyone in the family. By the time they are ready to go home, they will have been handled and socialized by all. They will be used to children, other dogs and goats, and be ready to go home and be a valuable member of your family. The dogs are treated as family, and are included in our daily routines.

We believe in breeding the healthiest, happiest dogs possible. Because of that, we do a thorough screening of all dogs that are brought into our breeding program. We are also on a strict schedule to see that everyone is tested for serious genetic problems. So far, we have tested for Von-Willebrand's and have had Eye Cerfs done on all of our dogs. We are working diligently on completing OFA certifications on all of our adult dogs. These problems are discussed on our Poodles page and also on our Labradoodle page.

There have been dogs that we have purchased to be a part of our breeding program, that for whatever reason did not fit. When that happens we try very hard to place them in a wonderful pet home. Likewise, our retired dogs are spayed/neutered, and then placed in great pet homes.  We truly care about our dogs, and want the best for them for all their years. In some cases, they never leave our home. When that happens, we will take care of them and love them for as long as they need us.

Currently, we are breeding Standard Poodles, F1B Labradoodles, and occationally F1 Labradoodles.
